Just some quick facts for you...
A newborn pup is born blind, deaf and toothless, but can crawl.
During its first week, 90% of its time is spent sleeping and 10% eating.
A puppies eyes usually open around 10-14 days after birth.
Puppies ears usually open around three weeks old.
Puppies can whimper and squeak to let their mother know if they are cold, hungry, or uncomfortable.
For the first few weeks the pup is almost totally dependent on Mom for food and comfort.
Now - Don't be thinking I get off scott free at this point, as it is MY responsibility to ensure Mom is well taken care of.
I am her "hand-maiden" for the next few weeks! Cleaning the pen, weighing the pups to ensure growth, feeding and grooming Mom, making sure she is comfortable and warm... ha ha - and SHE loves it!! (Psst - don't tell HER, but so do I!)
I'm sure they've grown since yesterday! Amber looks much more rested and sure of herself.Boy, they sure are georgeous!
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you! They are growing in little leaps and bounds... Cute! Yes - Amber has really settled in with them and I am enthralled!
