What you have been waiting for...
The pups are in the waiting room, at the vets here... Micah and Madison are in their individual travel carriers and Bailey and Laila are in the Sherpa bag, together.
Then we moved to the examining room. The great thing about these bags is that I can open them to stick my hand in and comfort the pups, or open the side fully, to let them out or, in the case of the Sherpa bag, open the top to take them out. Great for at the vets, cuz you DO NOT want their little feet on the floor in the vets office. Especially at a small town vet, where they have farmers bringing who knows what in on their boots. Remember, not all dogs at the vets are sick... but many are.
My vet, Mary-Lynn loved the pups! (But then, who wouldn't - they are so darn cute!) Laila went first, the big brave girl... She is the tiniest - weighing only 4.1 lbs. They were de-wormed (a precaution worth taking) and innoculated (should be re-innoculated again in about 3-4 weeks) Usually I do them at 8 wks, 12 wks and 16 wks.
Bailey weighed in a whole pound heavier! He is 5.1 lbs. The vet also listens for heart murmers, checks the lymph nodes and temperature, checks patellas and hips, mouth, ears and eyes (pups usually cannot focus well until about 4 months, so this is just a cursory check at this point).
OOOh! That table is cold! ha ha.
Then it was "the Brute's" turn (oops - Micah ha ha) He weighed in at a whopping6 lbs! Lovely shiny white teeth...
Oh yes - both boys have both descended testicles (for my breeder friends reading this)
And my darling little Madison was a whole 5.1 lbs! Just like Bailey... They all took their needles in the left cheek and hardly a squeak was heard, then they had their micro-chip done and you would swear they were being "killed! - the boys squealed louder than the girls though... ha ha)
Needless to say, the pups are all doing great!
