Aptitude Testing

I have had a few questions posed to me, regarding the aptitude testing that I do - so I thought I would explian a bit of it on here....
First - I had to enlist the help of a few friends - as the pups know me too well and I need to know how they would respond to people they really do not know. Thankfully, I have some great friends who were more than willing to help out and one could even get on her knees! lol

Ah, Cindy... you are so sweet... Anyone would come to a smile like yours... This test was for social attraction. To see if the pups would come to her and follow her around...

This test is restraint testing. It tests how dominant, or submissive my pups are - ha ha... they are so used to my trimming their feet and rubbing their tummies that they really liked this one...

Cindy (on the floor), Vicky (sound specialist) and Lisa (scorekeeper) working together as a team...

Touch sensitivity - again - my pups are VERY used to this...

Elevation Dominance... what? You expected me to move?? I am used to being picked up... like it!!

Sound/Startle Sensitivity testing - bang on a pot, shake a garbage bag open and open an umbrella - they startle, but get over it fast - great responses all around! Proud of my little tykes!

  1. It's amazing how much you do with the pups in the early weeks that it makes it so much easier for us as owners. I notice a huge differences between our two dogs...Charli (a pet store lhasa apso) who spent a couple of weeks in a display window alone and Colby (one of Brandy's boys in May 2010) who had 10 litter mates and so much exposure to new toys, sounds, adventures and love from you and the big dogs. I know part may be personalities but Colby is so laid back and Charli is a little uptight. And Colby is still so relaxed when he gets groomed that the groomers have to force him to stand up...he always wants to lay down!
Thanks for all you do for the pups!

  2. Thanks for your endorsement Tammy! I love the little tykes and my world revolves around them while I have them...
Time passes too quickly and then Amber and I have some "adjusting" to do... but it is all MY pleasure to be able to mold these little ones and place them in good homes, to bring joy to so many others...
Hmmm... guess maybe I shouldn't teach teh pups to lie still while I groom them - easy for me, but not the way most stores groom I suppose. Sure is easier to do their feet and eyes if they are lying still though...
