Okay, so a nasty fact of life is after they eat, they need to use the toilet. Thankfully, they are learning to go outdoors fast. You must remember they are young and it is up to YOU to encourage them to "go" outdoors... They love to be told how "good" they are for doing so...
I really must bring my coat and boots to the back and go pick up a bunch of this in the morning! Yuck!
Anyway... what I want to show you is how I set up my toilet area at this point.
I have four dogs and four pups to keep an eye on. Fortunately, my dogs are trained to go outdoors, but if I am distracted and miss some puppy "cues" I don't want them to just go anywhere. Or, if I have to go out and I lock the pups into the pen, I want them to use the toilet area...
So... first, I set a clean white towel on the floor, as close to the door (that you want the puppies to use) as possible. I use white towels so that they can be bleached to clean and disinfect them.
Then I snap together the puppy pad holder. I am using a pad holder now, cuz the pups have decided it is great fun to grab hold of towels, sheets, pant legs (anything they can get their teeth into) and shake... A wet pee pad is not a nice thing when they decide to shake it! Means baths all around and another floor wash! lol...
Ha ha... I had just snapped it together and put it on the towel when Bailey came and peed on the towel...
This is the box the pad holder came in. Got it at Wal-Mart.
Then you put a puppy pee pad on top (container in background)
Then the snap the top part of the pad holder on, over the pee pad.
ha ha... then the pups come play on it... too cute!
